Position
Professor of Surgery with Deakin University and General/Colorectal Surgeon with University Hospital Geelong, Barwon Health. Glenn Guest is also the Supervisor of General Surgical trainees for University Hospital Geelong and is Director of the RACS AusAid Timor Leste Surgical Program.  Glenn Guest is also Chair in Surgery at the Epworth Hospital Geelong.

Special interests
Glenn Guest is a General Surgeon with interests in Colorectal and Minimally Invasive Surgery, on which he has published a number of research papers. Glenn Guest also has a special interest in Health in Developing Countries and this is continued on through Specialist Surgical Service visits to Indonesia, East Timor and the Pacific Islands.

Previous appointments
Glenn Guest convened the Victorian Annual General Scientific & Fellowship Meeting in 2009, the 2nd International Medical Development Symposium in 2009, the Geelong Colorectal Nursing Symposiums in 2010 and 2011, the inaugural Management of Surgical Emergencies course (RACS) in 2010, and has been an invited speaker at over 20 local and international conferences.

Glenn Guest trained in Victoria as a General Surgeon and undertook additional Colorectal training through Fellowships at Castle Hill Hospital, UK in 2004 and at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 2005. Developing a special interest in Surgery in Developing Countries when, as a newly graduated Surgeon, he lived and worked in East Timor around the time of independence in 2002. He continues to undertake development work in Surgery in East Timor, Indonesia, PNG and Fiji. Glenn Guest has contributed significantly to Australia’s relief efforts following natural disasters in the Australasian region, leading a medical team in Banda Aceh after the Asian Tsunami and in Northern Pakistan after the 2005 Earthquake. Glenn Guest is the Director of the RACS/AUSAid Surgical Program to East Timor and a member of the International Committee.
