Dr Eileen Moore

Dr Eileen Moore completed postgraduate studies in Statistics and Computer Science at Harvard University in 2017. Eileen completed her PhD by research with The University of Melbourne, Department of Psychiatry and Department of Surgery, Deakin University & University Hospital Geelong, Barwon Health in February 2013. Eileen was actively involved in all aspects of research and has appointments on a number of research committees. Eileen held an appointment with the Department of Urological Services and managed the Robotic Surgery Program databases.

Special interests
Dr Eileen Moore completed her PhD investigating an association between cognitive impairment and vitamin B12. Eileen was awarded the Researcher of the Year Award in the category of Population Health & Lifestyle in 2012 and was awarded the Best Scientific Poster 2012 for the Barwon Health & Deakin University Smart Geelong Network Research Week Poster Competition for her entry "Increased risk of cognitive impairment in patients with diabetes is associated with metformin". In 2011 Eileen was awarded the Researcher of the Year Award in the category Living with a Disability for the landmark report of an association of the rate of cognitive decline with vitamin B12 levels in the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

In 2008 Eileen received first class Honours (H1) from The University of Melbourne for her work on “The Effects of Calcium Homeostasis and Thyroidectomy; Postoperative Hypocalcaemia Complicating Thyroid Surgery” undertaken with Department of Surgery, The University of Melbourne and The Geelong Hospital, Barwon Health. The following year Eileen was inducted into the Dean’s Honour List for outstanding academic achievement and in 2009 was the recipient of the Medical Defence Association (MDA) National Award presented at the Australasian General Surgeons Fellowship Meeting (AGSFM). Eileen is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease (JAD), the Southern Medical Journal (SMJ), Diabetes Care and Journal of Internal Medicine.  Eileen has co-authored a book chapter to Diet and Nutrition in Dementia and Cognitive Decline​, published through Academic Press in January 2015. Eileen was a finalist for the prestigious Alzheimer medal awarded annually by the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease (JAD).
